| Description | A large heavy piece of armour, made in Kiribati, designed to protect the upper body and head. It has a front and back plate joined at the shoulders with a gap for the head. The neck and head protection is a separate, complex construction which is joined to the body by a raised seam around the neck line. It flares outwards and upwards and has a small rectangular notch in the upper front to enable the warrior to see out. Coconut palm leaf, sennit, human hair. |
